WHERE WE TALK ABOUT CONTRAST AND FREE WILL

WHERE WE TALK ABOUT CONTRAST AND FREE WILL

Are you there?

Yes, we are here.

I would very much like to continue our discussion from last time, where we talked about taking time to look for love in the small moments in our lives.

We would be more than happy to continue that conversation.

So, in the last post, you suggested that even in the difficult moments of our lives, there is the potential for love, to see love, to find something light-hearted or reassuring or joyful even.

That is correct. Each and every moment of your life has that potential. The nature of the Universe is one of well-being, so it would make no sense for you as a light being to create experiences for yourself where that potential does not exist. It would go against your very nature.

That makes sense. But then why do we experience bad things at all? What is that about? If we are so divine, why can’t we pay our bills sometimes and why do our kids sometimes drive us crazy or why do our friends and lovers sometimes treat us with no respect? Why create even the chance of experiencing darkness when we are beings of light?

To grow. To grow and change and expand. That is the overarching desire of the Universe, of every living thing, even down to the very cells of your body. All entities that comprise the Universe have one driving force that motivates them and that is the desire for growth.

Go on.

One way, the primary way, in which that growth is achieved is by exposing yourself to contrast, to both love and fear. Life on the physical plane, by its very nature, provides all incarnated beings the opportunity to not only experience what they ARE in any given situation, but also the chance to experience what they are NOT in those same situations. That is what free will is all about. The freedom to choose your experience. Do I choose to experience what I AM or what I am NOT? Do I choose to see and experience love or fear? That is why the physical plane is filled with situations and experiences that human persons find distressing or sad or disruptive or even tragic. To provide the opportunity to experience contrast, and through that experience, to grow and expand.

Goodness! How did we start talking about all of this?

You are the one who asked the question. You wanted to know why so-called “bad things” exist in the world. Surely you must have known that we would tackle this subject eventually.

I suppose. But maybe down the line, in a couple of months, after we’d warmed up a bit with a few less weighty topics.

No time like the present, as they say. Is there anything else about contrast that you would like to talk about today?

I’m not sure. My mind is a little muddled with all of this information.

That is to be expected. You have spent this lifetime and many others besides looking at the world in a certain way, and now you are facing some new ideas about how the world functions and they are making you a little uncomfortable.

It’s not that I don’t believe what you are telling me. It’s just that, as you say, some of these ideas are hard to accept.

And that is where contrast and freedom of choice come into play. Think about it for a moment. Over the course of a typical human lifetime, how many different ways of looking at the world will you encounter? Hundreds. Thousands even. If we were to be completely accurate, we would say that there are roughly 7 billion different ways of looking at the physical world and your relationship to it. And not just the physical world, but the realm of non-physical as well. How many religions exist on planet Earth, each with its own individual way of describing the divine and your relationship to it?

You have a point. But still.

Rest assured, we are not here to force any ideas on you. We only want to present you with another way of looking at the physical and non-physical worlds, how they relate to one another, and what your part is. Take all the time you want to digest what we have said. Remember – every incarnated being has freedom of choice, so it is up to you to choose what you want to believe and what ultimately serves you. If an idea does not ring true for you or you have no real interest in exploring it, then it is probably best to simply set it aside.

That sounds like good advice.

If you like, we can leave this topic for now and give you a chance to absorb some of that we have said. We can return to it at any time.

Yes, let’s stop now.

Until next time then.

Thank you all.
