WHERE WE PLAY A GAME OF “WHAT IT?”

WHERE WE PLAY A GAME OF “WHAT IT?”

Are you there?

Yes, we are here.

Once again, I get the feeling that there is something that you would like to discuss today.

You are correct. Today, just for fun, we would like to play a little game with you. A game of What If?

I used to play a game of What If? years ago when I was still acting. What If? was a way of helping actors to develop a character that they were working on. You would ask yourself a series of questions that related to the character. What if I was really an overworked coal miner? What if I was really a crazed murderer? What if I was really the Prince of Denmark? It was a way of helping yourself to imagine what it might feel like to actually BE your character.

Yes, we recall that game.

You do? Oh, right. I keep forgetting that you’ve been around this whole time.

After I came to New York and began exploring my spirituality in a more conscious way, I discovered another version of What If? that was used to help you get in touch with the feelings and emotions behind what you were looking to manifest for yourself. What if I was rich? What would that feel like? What if I had the ideal partner? How would that make me feel? What if I had the greatest job in the world? What would that be like? What if? was a very effective way of getting to the emotional core of your desires.

The What If? game that we are suggesting is a little bit different from that.

How so?

It starts with a question or a series of questions that you ask yourself. For example – What if everything that I am experiencing in my life at this moment right now is exactly the way I have intended it to be? What if my higher self, acting with purpose and great intent, has allowed me to make choices that have brought me to the very place, good or bad, that I currently find myself in? And what if, despite whatever my individual physical circumstances might be or how the human side of me is feeling about it, what if my spirit, my soul, my higher self is actually thrilled beyond belief at where I am and what I am doing and who I have turned out to be, because again, despite how my individual circumstances might be perceived, I am manifesting my true purpose in life, which is to grow and expand?

Oh, my goodness. This really is a very different kind of game, isn’t it?

Yes, indeed it is. Although at its core, its goal is essentially the same – to shift your perspective.

So, at the risk of stating the obvious, you seem to be suggesting by these questions that my current state is exactly the way it is meant to be. That circumstances as they exist now, good or bad, are really what I have intended. That they have been deliberately chosen, by me, and that the higher part of me is actually happy and excited about my progress.

We ask these questions because we are interested in what you are thinking and what you are feeling when presented with the idea that everything is as it should be.

Well, my first thought is that accepting this kind of idea would require a great deal of faith and trust, would it not? Trusting that my purpose in coming here – growth and expansion – is actually real and is supported by my experiences, regardless of how bad I think they are sometimes. That everything that happens in my life happens for a reason. And that there is always a positive intention behind all of it. Is that what you mean?

That is what we mean.

It’s funny, but despite all the work I have done on myself over the years, especially the work that we have been doing here together, I’ve never seriously imagined what it would actually feel like if I believed everything in my life was exactly the way it was supposed to be. That the choices I was making I was making on purpose, however unconsciously, because I knew that they would eventually lead to growth and expansion.

Take some time to think about it. And while you do, consider these questions as well: If I am able to believe the idea that everything I experience is as I have intended it to be, how would that change my perspective on life? How differently would I see myself and the world around me if I knew in my heart of hearts that everything was absolutely okay and all right? And what would I need to do, if anything, to arrive at a place in my life where I could fully accept the idea that everything I have created has been done with a clear purpose in mind?

These questions are the logical extension of the ideas that I have been working to absorb all of these years. That we are not here trying to fix ourselves or test ourselves or learn anything about ourselves that we don’t already know. That there have been no mistakes along the way, no accidents, nothing to regret, nothing to worry about, nothing to fear. That we are here, in fact, to experience ALL aspects of human existence, including that which we perceive of as good as well as what we think of as bad, because it fosters our growth. And that an ongoing feeling of ease and love and joy is what we are ultimately striving towards because it is a reflection of who we really are. And yet, given the often dark and challenging nature of our respective journeys, it is still difficult to completely accept that all of us here are doing exactly what we have intended, what our inner being has intended, and that we are doing it because we want to, because it brings us joy.

These are ideas for you to think about, to meditate on. There is no need for you to comment any further just now. These are ideas that we will return to again during our conversations together. It may take some time and effort, but there is no doubt that contemplation of these ideas will lead you to a greater understanding of who you really are and why you have really come. That is our only desire. Our little game of What If? is just another way of jogging your memory.

OK, then. I think we are done for today.

Until next time.

Thank you all.
