Let’s continue our discussion on reincarnation where we left off. I’d like to start with the order of lifetimes. How is all of that worked out?

Technically, there is no order of lifetimes. All of your lives happen at the same time.

What? Oh, wait. Let me guess. Because in non-physical, there is no time and space, so what we perceive as separate moments here on the physical plane are actually happening all at the same time.

That is correct. To experience all of your lifetimes’ moments all at the same time would make no sense to a being that is incarnated on the physical plane because without the element of time, the moments of your life could not be experienced as discrete. Everything would blend together in one big blur. That is why the design of the physical plane allows for individual moments to be strung out, so to speak, so that you can experience them one at a time. The same holds true of your individual lifetimes. They are ongoing and simultaneous. Your human mind may piece them together in some kind of chronological order because that is how human history is perceived, but in fact, everything happens at once.

That is a difficult notion to understand.

Yes, to your human mind. But your higher self, your true self, knows exactly what is going on. Like all experience, both physical and non-physical, it is all a matter of focus and attention. The reason that your current lifetime seems to you to be the only one that is currently ongoing is because that is where your attention is at the moment. Your higher self is primarily focused right now with Richard. But all of your lifetimes are simultaneous. They are all happening in the NOW.

OK. I’m trying to hang in there with you, but “simultaneous lifetimes” as opposed to “past lifetimes” is not the way I have always viewed reincarnation.

We told you that the metaphysical aspects of reincarnation were complex. Try this idea on for size – because all of your lifetimes are simultaneous and are all created and maintained by you, it is quite natural, even routine, for your higher self to communicate with your other lives and share that information with your entire energy system, even if the primary focus of your higher self happens to be elsewhere in any given moment.

So, it’s possible for each of us to have conscious knowledge of our other lifetimes?

Yes, of course. That information is more readily available to you than you would imagine and it takes only practice to develop the skills that would allow you to access that information. Eventually, all humans will have the ability to communicate inter-life and use that information to consciously inform the choices and experiences that they are primarily focused upon.

What is the purpose of reincarnation then? Couldn’t we experience everything that we want to experience in one lifetime? Now that I’m asking these questions, I think I know the answer. If the purpose of physical life is for us to experience ALL aspects of earthly existence, it only makes sense that we would want to experience as much as possible in as many forms as possible, and that is why we reincarnate. Am I even close?

Indeed, you are. We would add one more thing, perhaps the most important reason of all for reincarnation, and that is because it is FUN! Living many incarnated lives simultaneously and allowing yourself to experience all of the different aspects of human existence, every gender configuration, every sexual orientation, every social identity – wife, husband, mother, father, son, daughter – every skin color, every ethnic origin, every religious faith, every type of profession – butcher, baker, candlestick maker – everything from a thoroughly “good” person to a thoroughly “bad” person, living in every historical period – past, present and future – interacting with every different kind of person that exists, experiencing every kind of situation, every emotion, every challenge, experiencing it ALL! That is the most important aspect of living an incarnated, physical existence. Because it is FUN!

It boggles my mind to think that each of us here is actually involved in creating a complex array of personalities and experiences, and that all of it is happening at the same time.

It is even more mind-boggling than you realize. Allow us to use you as an example. What would you say if we told you that, in your case, this incredibly complex array or personalities and experiences totals 416 physical lifetimes?

Did you say 416? You’re messing with me, right?

No, we are not at all messing with you. By our estimation, you have created and are currently maintaining 416 separate and unique physical lives.

416 seems like a lot! I mean, I can’t even begin to imagine what that means or what that would entail.

We make no judgment about the number of lifetimes that you or any other being seeks to create. 416 lifetimes may seem like a great many to you, but in the scheme of things, it is no more or less than what you desire, what you have created, what is appropriate to your purpose. In your case, in earthly terms, you have been at this a long time. You are what humans sometimes refer to as an “old soul.” So, it is not unusual for an entity such as yourself to take on many lifetimes. Your creative energies and your intention to grow and expand are very strong, and you have great love for the human experience, so it only makes sense that you would want to incarnate many, many times. But each of the 7 billion inhabitants of the planet Earth share this same ability, to differing degrees. The ability and the desire to create a wide-ranging, exhilarating tapestry of experiences on the physical plane. That is what is really going on beneath the surface of your everyday lives. An incredibly creative adventure!
