Time again for another Q&A.
Our Q&A postings are always very enjoyable. What is our first question?
Question #1: During our posts on pain and illness, I kept wondering if all of you can tell when my body is in pain.
Answer #1: We are intimately in tune with your energy field, and when your physical form is experiencing pain of any kind, it registers in your field. We do not “see” as you do, as we have no eyes or indeed any physical form, but we can sense when there is a blockage and we can calculate from the frequency of the vibration that you are holding that your physical form is experiencing pain. And we are not the only ones who have this skill. Every being, both physical and non-physical, is aware, or perhaps we should say has the capability of being aware, of every other being’s energetic makeup, depending on where they choose to place their attention at any given time. We are all One after all. And we are all connected by that Oneness. So, it is only logical that each and every being is capable of focusing their awareness, if such allowances are permitted by the parties concerned, on what another is experiencing.
Question #2: Even after years of meditation practice, many people find it hard to quiet their minds and they wonder what is the best way to deal with never-ending thoughts during meditation?
Answer #2: The best way to deal with your thought processes during the practice of meditation is simply to let them be. Meditation is about doing nothing, or at least as little as possible. The goal, if there could be said to be a goal, is to release yourself from any attachment to what you are hearing inside your head and just allow your thoughts to flow naturally, without any need to engage with them or alter them in any way. The tendency for most human persons during the practice of meditation is to allow their focus to fixate upon a random thought and then to passively follow that thought to wherever it might take you. Often times, that means entangling your mind in a mass of ego-generated thought patterns that take you out of the present moment and lead you into a dense space of low-vibrational emotional energy. To avoid this tendency to stray, it is best to always keep your primary focus on the in-and-out motion of your breath. This will allow you to maintain a reasonable distance and detachment from these thoughts as they flow through your mind. If you can remain detached, and limit the amount of attention you invest in this flow of thoughts, eventually they will begin to subside and quiet will prevail. As we have said before, achieving a relaxed, meditative state requires patience and commitment. That is why they call it meditation “practice.” So be patient with yourself and remain committed, for the benefits of meditation are well worth the effort.
Question #3: How can we best use our everyday experiences to maintain a strong connection to Source energy?
Answer #3: As we have said many times before, feeling good means your connection is clear and open while feeling not so good means your connection is constricted and pinched off. So start by paying close attention to how you are feeling in ALL situations, including those that you might consider small or insignificant. Let us provide you with an example to illustrate this point by using an episode from your own recent experience. The other day, you went to the store to buy yourself some of your favorite tea, tea that can only be found in this one particular store. Once you arrived, you decided to also purchase some of the cinnamon graham crackers that you like. When your items – two small boxes of tea and a box of graham crackers – were run up at the register, the total came to $21.09, an amount you considered much, much too high, certainly more than you had paid for these items in the past. At this point, you considered returning your items to the shelf, but then you remembered how delicious the tea was and how tasty the graham crackers were, so you bit the bullet, as you humans like to say, and begrudgingly completed your purchase. On your journey home, you thought about how much you enjoy consuming your tea and your crackers and that filled you with satisfaction and pleasure. At the same time, you began to feel a certain guilt over spending what you thought was too much money on your items, even though you had at the time sufficient funds to make this purchase. So, in terms of your emotional response to the situation, you were faced with a dilemma: “Is it possible for me to enjoy my tea and crackers without a nagging sense of guilt over how much money I have spent?” Now, to many, this may seem like a completely inconsequential moment, not even worthy of consideration, but we can assure you that moments such as this provide you with an excellent opportunity for clarity and growth, simply because these moments are small, uncomplicated and manageable. So, what to do? From our point of view, the answer is clear. First, remind yourself that when it comes to your emotions, you always have a choice. Then, use your choice to focus on that which serves you best, that which makes you feel good. In this instance, appreciating the tea and graham crackers that you enjoy so much and honoring the fact that had enough money in the moment to make your purchase, these are the choices that serve you best, the choices that keep your channel to Source energy open, and that, in turn, makes you feel good, which is, after all, the goal. Focusing your mind on guilt, no matter how small, no matter the cause, this is not what we might call your best choice because it constricts your channel to the life-giving energy of Source, and that, in turn, makes you feel less than good. And so, the lesson here, the lesson of the tea and crackers, if you will, is a simple one – in order to best use your everyday experiences to maintain a strong connection to Source energy, keep your thoughts on that which makes you feel good in as many situations as you can, and trust that the Universe will handle the rest. That is the formula for success.
Question #4: Could you explain the process of pivoting?
Answer #4: In our answer to Question #3 above regarding your connection to Source energy, we spoke about the importance of shifting your focus away from thoughts that trigger low-vibrational emotions, like guilt over spending too much money, to thoughts that trigger high-vibrational emotions, like the joy and pleasure you receive when drinking your favorite tea and eating your favorite graham crackers. This shift we are talking about, moving your attention from one point of reference to another, from thoughts about what you do NOT want to experience to thoughts about what you DO want to experience, that is pivoting. That is all that it is. An intentional, conscious, mental shift in your focus. There is nothing complicated about it, except, perhaps, in the execution, and that is always complicated by the fear-based resistance that most humans hold within their consciousness. As we have said before, the ego mind does not want you to pivot from something that makes you feel bad to something that makes you feel good because there is no drama in that approach, no conflict. “Besides, none of us deserve to feel good anyway. Look at all of the hardship and suffering in the world. How can we feel happy, how can we even THINK we have the right to feel happy when there is so much unhappiness all around us? No, better to keep things the way they are. Otherwise, things will only get worse.” These are the type of thought patterns that the ego generates in order to keep itself in a position of power and to keep you from pivoting to thoughts that threaten that power, thoughts that are more directly aligned with love and joy and peace and compassion. But again, this is why you have come. To see past the resistance that the ego produces, to affirm for yourself the power that comes from remembering who you really are, and to shift your attention to a state of mind that aligns itself exclusively with the loving energy of Source. That is what pivoting is all about.
Question #5: We often hear how important it is to act like the person we want to be, but how exactly do we do that when our lives constantly reflect back to us our current state?
Answer #5: By pretending. By using your imagination, just like you did when you were a child. Your imagination, much like your ability to pivot your focus, is a tool in your arsenal of creative weapons, so to speak. It has been designed by Source, by you, as a means of conjuring thoughts, feelings and images around experiences that do not yet exist in physical form. It only makes sense, does it not, that you should take advantage of this tool, this power, to manifest whatever it is you wish to create for yourself. This is how everything is supposed to work, after all. You dream it up, whatever it is, and the Universe utilizes all of its infinite moving parts to bring to you that which you desire. Instead, for much of the time, your imagination lies dormant and neglected within your consciousness. When you do have occasion to use it, it either summons up that which frightens or concerns you – in other words, that which you do NOT want – or engenders so much fear-based resistance around that which you DO want that you lose heart and concede defeat. We have often believed that it would be of great benefit for all human persons to spend a good ten minutes out of every day simply sitting in a quiet place and fantasizing about what they desire, what makes them feel good, what brings them pleasure, including what kind of person they would like to be if they were to suddenly manifest all of the wonderful and exciting things that they desire. It does take time for the vibrational frequencies to shift, so practice does require diligence, consistency and commitment, but the more you engage your imagination, the more responsive it will be, and the more responsive your imagination is, the easier it is to create. So, ignore all of the limitations that you have set for yourself and take some time each day to practice imagining how you would like your life to look and how you would like your life to feel. Do whatever you can to imagine all that makes you feel good. Then sit back, relax and allow the Universe to do its job.
